Right i need some options for a decent suspension set up.
I have decided i want to try and get the Corsa Chassis to handle and it obviously needs help
I fancy something hard wearing that i can use on the road, but would be well suited to track (im thinking coil overs perhaps) not fussed about ride - if its stiff then its stiff!
I have narrowed down the following
LEDA Coilovers - i know these are expensive and the dogs love nuts, I know they are seriously expensive but its possible.
Coilovers - I had AVO's on my GSi and they were fantasic for all use (can be had for £600 new from AVO's)
I cant really think of anything else really which is available through the public domain without needing a mortgage!
I know i havent mentioned Bushes, Rollbars, top mounts. Im ok with that, im more concerned with Damping and spring rates.
If anyone has GENUINE experience to call on to help me with this - that would be great

In the north east I am well known for fitting suspension, have done absolutely loads of cars for people on here as well. Ive fitted everything from shitty stuff like g-max right up to bilstein fully adjustable race spec stuff.
The kit I was most impressed with Is what I ended up fitting on my car. Its the bilstein sprintline kit. The shocks are fantastic and miles ahead of anything else in this price range. The springs that come with them are pretty shit but spend extra on some bilstein tarmac rally spec springs and it makes the complete set-up 10x better.
Apart from stuff like Leda and bilstein ive never been impressed by any coilover set-up.

I was gonna go with the bilstein sprintline kit as Dave has never had a bad word to say about them.

this is the way I look at it:
spend £400 on a budget coilover kit like FK wich is poor quality but you can tell your mates you have coilovers
or
spend £400 on a top of the range fixed rate Bilstein kit that will outlast and outhandle the fk set-up. no frills just a good all-round kit.

Ok - thanks Dave.
So in what way are the billies better, im curious as to how this set up would benifit over a traditonal coil over set up with particlar reference to handling.
Remember im not over fussed about ride quality.
Money is not the key issue - ive had coil overs and im not fussed about shouting "look at me" I want to explore the opportunity of really making this handling shocker handle well.

to be honest, I cant really explain how the billies are so good but it has something to do with the damper design. the piston rod itself is 3x thicker than all others ive seen.
trying to explain quite how it handles better is difficult but it just does. ask Ryest he was in my car the other day and he was well impressed (i hope) with the handling. even when ive really pushed the car its never done anything dodgy, back end seems to squat down nicely on fast corners and doesnt ever go light when coming off the throttle. Even with the tarmac spec springs it is still quite comfy rather than harsh, bumps give a confident dull thud through the suspension rather than a great big crash.

Im with you.
I understand the billies are a great design - i cant believe I didnt mention them in the opening text.
How do you find body roll? - something which im not terribly keen on.

I know it's not specifically related to springs/dampers .etc but have you considered the following Teddy, seam weld front end, rally wishbone set-up and maybe a sump guard?

looked at this;
Suspension System
Front : Bilstein 2.25” tarmac specification coil-over strut assembly with Spherical Adjustable top mounts.
: Progressive 2.25” tarmac specification springs.
: SFN Nylon Suspension Bushes.
: OMP anodised aluminium adjustable Strut Brace
Rear : Leda 2.25” tarmac specification coil-over strut assembly with adjustable damper control
: Progressive 2.25” tarmac specification springs.
: SFN Nylon Suspension Bushes.
: Purpose built steel Strut Brace.
Seems like Leda and Bilstein are favoured
