I've done the mods to my diesel Corsa but lost the position of the plunger while removing the white ring. The car now goes a lot better but there is loads of smoke. The max fuel screw is in its original position.
The plunger has a line scribed on it that I know lines up with something, but what?
Does anyone know the correct position for the plunger? What do I need to line it up with?

I don't think it was an issue on mine, took the plunger out and put it back in again and all was fine, but this was a while ago and can't remeber now.
What have you increased the boost too?

I've pushed the boost up to 1.2bar but tried lowering to 1.0bar. No difference. The boost was 8psi standard. The whole engine is a lot liveier now even off the turbo. Top gear roll on is very impressive indeed!
I've turned the plunger round 180 degrees so the line is opposite the small hole and turned the max fuel screw out another half a turn to get the tickover down
Now when you push the loud pedal there is smoke coming out just as the turbo spins up. When you hear it whistle and the boost gauge picks up the smoke dies off. Then at full throttle and boost the smoke is back. 80mph in top gear with 6psi no smoke. 100mph at 1.2bar and its back

I'd wind the max fuel screw in a bit as the smoke is produced by unburnt fuel, case of trial and error really.
the tickover is governed by a different screw, if you look where the throttle cable attaches there are 2 screws, one so it only opens so far and the other that sets it's resting position

Thanks guys, I've run it a few days now and it doesn't seem so bad, but its still there.
Gave a Mondeo a scare up the motorway yesterday on his ass at 110
I still feel its not right as the tickover went up to 2000 rpm and I had to back the thottle stop right off and bend the 'choke' lever to get it right down. With the smoke being bad on part throttel just before the turbo boosts its like ist got too much fuel just there.
With the max fuel screw now turned 1 turn ANTIclockwise from its original position I've got less smoke and not as much push.
I really need to know the correct plunger position to feel Ive got it right.

Sounds like it's in the correct position:
The line:
Should be towards this side:

Hmmm, could be injectors at fault

Thanks for that DutchNovaDiesel.
At the moment the line is pointing at 12.00, straight up on that picture. I'll turn it round so the line is against the small hole at the weekend and try it again.
I've put 3L of vegetable oil in with 7L diesel and it looks like the smoke is dropping off.
