i am a bit worried about the safety of my car and wondering if it has an immobiliser in it. its a 1996 1.2 8v premier and i was told today that it has a chip in it which i assume means it has an immob?
just want to be sure

Pretty crap one tho ...get a cat 1 alarm system like me for the peace of mind

spend some money and get a decent alarm/immobiliser mate.Thatcham cat 1 will do the business.Clifford are worth their weight in gold.

im kinda skint atm though...just bought coilovers so i need a cheaper safe option for now. have been told the coil cut off switch is really gd as long as it is hidden well

The standard immobiliser is ok, but an uprated one will un-doubtable keep your car safer. Best bet would be to get a cat 2 immobiler put on, fitted prices start from around £80. If not, what about a disc lock steering wheel lock? Around £60 from Halfords etc and they rate as a Thatcham 3. Also you can transfer it to yoru next car.

If your skint save for a while like me . you can get the most basic of cliffords Arrow 5 installed for around £199.99 if they charge you more usually they have to price match stuff so argue, however on my corsa they need to put a central locking motor in the passenger door which is around £40-50.
