i have a new LG 50" plasma all setup .
the dvd player came with a mega surround sound package and sounds the nuts but it only works when im watching a dvd...
the surround sound all plugs into back of dvd player and then ive connected the dvd player to the tv using component or can be changed to scart.
i cant find an option to use the audio from the component out put. its gay having these massive speakers and i cant use them unless watching a dvd !
any help would be blinding, cheers

Just plug the surround sound bits into the tv, it'll still paly dvd's in surround or whatever.

All you need is an audio out on the tv and an audio in on the surround system.

i done that and its just hissing and even at full volume its very quiet.. my sky hd is coming thru hdmo if that helps

ok what ive done is gone from sky box out left and right then left and right in to the dvd player, the two front speakers and sub work fine thru the av1 and hdmi input. its a shame not all speakers work tho

I had the same thing..
I ran the 2 cables from Telewest box out to DVD player in and turned DVD player to Video option now get surround sound when watching TV aswell
And thats the same as me 2 fronts and sub work but not the other 3.

only reason I would have all the speakers running is either during a footy match (to get that hall effect which is generally louder and more immersive) and movies whenever I order them through the box office (those and SkyMovies are the only ones broadcast in Dolby Digital I think?)
Otherwise, if you wanted an improvement in sound then mute your TV and switch the DVD player to play in Stereo mode. You still have audio left and audio right as well as the sub. Will probably sound better than the speakers on your TV.
