It fits.
My current engine is a X16XE head on a C16XE Block.
The curious thing is that it came from the factory like this.
The pistons of C16XE have deepen pockets unlike those of the X16XE
cheers

all wrong in some way
the c16xe head will fit on an x16xe
the heads are different, the c16xe has better inlet and exhaust ports
they both have the egr passages but only the x16xe uses them
blocks are 100% identical, as are the pistons, conrods, crank etc...
cams are the same (some say they are not but I have measured them)
slight difference in the valves (either inlet or exhaust, cant remember) apparently but I have never noticed it

also, to fit an x16xe head on a c16xe you will need to use the original c16xe inlet.
personally I wouldnt fit a x16xe head to replace a c16xe one, the c16xe is a far better design.
