Hello,
The corsa is a pre 97 shite bag grey dash thingy. Say I wanted to replace it with something post 97 and black, is there any gotchas apart from the insane snakesonaplane like wires and modules that you need to remove when you take the dash out?

It's easy William.
You need to undo the 4 torx bolts in the car, then undo the 4 nuts in the engine bay. There are then two bolts behind the ash tray too so you'll need to pop that out. There is alos a trim in the drivers side of the foot well which needs un bolting. You mught need to take the coin holder trim bit off too. the steering colum trim comes off with a phillips screwdriver and everything should be loose then.
The wiring is all cable tied in, so cut it all loose. You probably want to take the heater controls off before you start too, and the heater vents.
There are a few plugs to undo, which are bitches to get loose without a fine flat blade screwdriver and you'll want the steering wheel off too.
Getting it back together should be an easy task so long as you tie all the wiring back into place as you clip it all back onto the bit of metal. You will need to plug everything back in too, but you aren't actually disturbing too much when you do it and it looks a whole lot worse than it actually is.

Nope, they are the same bit of plastic.

Why, you would still need to take it out, and it's a hell of a lot more work and money to get it painted.

It's not hard, it's just frustrating.
Mine wouldn't come out without the wheel off, so I hacksawed it
