I have the V6 brake setup (From LMF), had it on a while so it's all bedded in and they good, but the pedal feel is shocking - there is loads of pedal travel before anything happens, and even then it's still a bit spongy.
It's has passed the MoT with them so braking ability is fine but I really don't like the feel of the pedal one bit.
I have bled the front brales when I fitted them , I have tried adjusting the bar that links the pedal to the servo with very little improvement.
What else can I do?
I've heard that the solution might lie with my rear brakes (standard drums)? Maybe replace the rear shoes and adjust them?
This is on a 1994 GSi (lowered by 60mm if that makes a difference to the (auto?) rear load adjuster?)
Any help gratefully recieved blah blah...

No, but I have had them on my previous Novas etc and not noticed any difference - TBH When I had the Corsa GSi brakes on my old Nova GSi (after I'd put the V6's on my Corsa) I was bloody impressed with them compared to my V6's - this can't be the way it should be!
it should be:
V6's, then valver brakes

braided hoses will help. I never had trouble with mine, pedal was solid.

My Hi-spec's feel the same as you've described. You push the pedal down quite far before anything happens. It has braided hoses too. And they feel real spongy. Have bled the Front barkes, but not the back. Would doing the back help?

by the number of problems people are having with braking issues its about time we all did something to find a way of fitting a bigger master cylinder on a corsa. where theres a will theres a way!

I always thought you should bleed the whole system not just the brakes you changed.

I was speaking to a lad on Migweb a while back. He reckons V6 brakes on a GSI are spongey due to the ABS

TBH they were fairly spongey on my old Nova GSi which is non-ABS

the abs corsas always have a poorer pedal feel imho.
But yes dont worry about replacing the rear brakes but try adjusting them up slightly, or to see if its going to make a difference try driving with the handbrake up one click!

its due to big pistons in the caliper - and not powerful enouf brake servo
my 2.0L's arn't great either, but id adjust up the rear drums abit - will give abit better pedal (only if needs doing tho)
do the braided hoses make that much difference?

Jules
I've got exactly the same problem with my 1994 gsi, I've recently replaced the shoes as they were worn but it didn't when I got it but it didn't make any difference to the distance the pedal travels. I'm going to try replacing the drums as I'm still finding the breaks aren't as effective as what I'd like. Let me know if you get the distance thing sorted.

mines a GLS x14xe non abs and non A/C
bleed mine several times, i checked it was the front by clamping the hoses and the pedal went rock solid, released o/s and pedal went down slighty and undone n/s and pedal went down quite abit more
my n/s caliper is flexing slighty - replaced the rubber boots and put new pads in, but still has spougie ish pedal, but better since iv adjusted the rear shoes up
but starting the car up (brake servo assistance) the pedal stays the same hieght

well the GSi brakes would feel good as they're 256mm - same as the 2.0 brakes... although the GSi ones are 4mm thinner (probs not make much difference unless they get used for a long time and heat up too much)
haven't heard many good things about the V6 setups myself

totally agreed, done that with my 1400 16 after fitting mintex m1144 pads and it did stop the locking up, the only thing you will feel is that sometimes instead of just staying on the pedal you will have to come off a bit and then back on to stop lock up.
