Its to do with NAT settings on your xbox. go to your network settings and do a network test.
It should say your NAT is OPEN
if its Moderate or strict you wont be able to hear or play some peolple unless you change it

yes and it came back saying strict
so i went onto the link you posted and it was telling me to try lots of funny things?
i can tell you which modem and internet provider i am with, i just wanted a simple step by step guide as to how i sort it out?
or if i just need to get a new modem or anything?

so your xbox plugs into your Mode/router? if so you may need to use the guide i gave you to forward the ports

i tried to forward the ports but it did not change anything? what exactly does it mean and what am i supposed to do in simple terms? i went through the process on DOS, then typed in the info into the internet properties bit, but then tested again and it was still strict???

i unplugged my Router, reset it with the xbox plugged in and turned on it then set the NAT to OPEN and has been fine since.
did you go one here?

i will try what you said with turning the router off then resetting it and then turning it on and see what happens?
i did go to that port forwarding and have set it up as it stated, turned of the PC and the modem and it was still on strict

its a talk talk one, its called something slightly funny like huewie mtx882??
cant remember exactly so that could be wrong
i must have done it wrong then, i will give it ago again 2night?
would the talk talk helpline be any help?

not sure, try them as a last resort.
If it was me i would plug my xbox into the router and restart the setting up process. it worked for me

i will give it ago anyway and see how it turns out, the modem i have only has one ethernet cable so i have to keep switching it over will this cause any problems?
how do i rest the modem, is there a reset button?

oh by the way do you have the same internet provider as me? i only ask as i just wondered if it was possibly the connection i have with talk talk?
