Right over the next few months me and one of the IT teachers at work have decided we need to make a data base that can store all the teachers lessons/timetables
We then need to make a front end so that the teachers can login, click on a lesson and upload the work to the database.
We then need to allow students to click on thier teachers name and be able view their timetable, click on a lesson and download the lesson files etc.
Right im not the most experienced programmer and dont claim to be (Most i have done is HTML/Java/C and some small amounts of MYSql, but can anyone offer their advice on what solution/software to use to achieve the above goals?
I have plenty of time/resources avaible to learn new languages etc if need be.

We use Moodle at college. I assume what you want to be able to do is, allow teachers to upload work? and for students to download it from home or school and do the work?
At college we do have different modules, and we enrol onto each 1, and all of the work in class, and assignments are on there.

blackboard is what my uni uses - its alright, allows lecturers to upload timetables, lecture/coursework notes, create forums for discussion etc
Works well when it gets used properly
edit - i believe blackboard isn't free though, unlikes moodle which is open source i think
