hi i have a 1.4 16v sport and it has gone worse on fuel, smells of petrol, spluters and struggles to pick up the revs at low revs but is ok when its picks up any got any ideas plz?

make sure that the petrol tank isnt leaking and that theres no splits in any of the fuel lines.
oh and dont smoke near the car!
