looked into it a while back. had a play with the software used to map it seems simple enough.
my only concern would be that not many places would want to map it if they havnt used it before, if you live close to Jamsport that wont be a problem.
seems like a good cheap option, lots of features for not a lot of money, plus Jamsport are good.

i live about 130 miles from them. I personally don't know nyone who's plyed with chips, remaps or new ecu's so i'm going in blind. They quoted £850 plus vat which seemed reasonable enough to me. Any other goods places and good brands. I'm not bothered about travelling as i travel the country for my job but the closer to essex the better. Cheers.

GoTech is very good.
I will be running 2 of these on my twin engine corsa.
They tick all the right boxes do want you need and are priced very good aswell.
As Dave said not alot of places map it BUT Jamsport do full aftercare and will help you right out with any problems.
All my mates in SA who are running 9's on the 1/4 in there FWD Astras run GoTech so if there getting the times good enough for me

The softare is free to download, very easy to use, anyone with a rolling road, wideband, mapping experience will be able to map it! we have fitted it to cars such as :
corsas
escort rst's, from 200bhp to 360+bhp 1.6's
twin turbo jags
mustangs
monaro(sp) engines
crate engines to ship to america
infact its been on pretty much anything!
were pleased to get involved with beardys project aswell, we will soon have his management systems in stock, he is having the latest pro x management which we have had some units for beta testing, this is now complete and the final products will be here for his car soon!
phil, any questions them pm me or call us and speak to me or jamie, 01604 755529, you may not get a reply to emails for a week as im off work, but pm me on here and ill reply!
as for places not wanting to map it, if they want money they will, we have good relations with pretty much all the decent tuning companies, some buy the management off us.
phil, one question, what mods have you done to reach a 1.7cc engine?

The previous owner of the engine had it bored out nd fitted new pistons and rings (obviously). He then had an accident only 1500 miles after rebuilding it nd wrote of the car. The tip of the crankshaft snapped so i bought it used a spare crank i had and it started from there basically. I only bought it because it was on ebay and it worked out cheaper than buying new rings!!! I didn't know it ws bored out till i checked it all out. It is 1705cc i believe.
I'm not to fussed about other plces mapping it as i'm more than willing to trvel to you guys. I doubt it'll need remapping to often. I hope anyway.
My main concerns is that will it work fine i.e. will my car tick over fine, start from cold ok etc. etc. Also how soon could it be done. I got quoted saturday to saturday which is fine but i would have to book time off work and arrange transport to and from (while my car's there). I'm currently working on a lighthouse on an island off of the northumberland coast but should be home next week. I've got another 200 miles until she's run in but i'd wnt it set up asap really. Cheers Phil.

Thats all down to how good the map is.
With a good map it will drive, idle, be as efficient as std management.

I'd be surprised, massively surprised if the MFI Pro can't cope with an ICV.

Hmm?
Cold start enrichment, and idle control is down to the ecu's settings and map.

Yes, but not all aftermarket ECUs can deal with an ICV.

Most can control a idle valve, just some cant drive an idle motor.
Even megasquirt can control an idle valve, and the later version can control a stepper motor.
So i'd guess go-tech can.
Not too much of a problem even if it dont.
Just set the idle with the throttle linkage stop, and leave it at that.

i ran it with no idle control on my throttle bodies car, that started fine and idled fine with 288 degree cams in it, its down to who sets the cold start features up etc!

The only problem with that is with the altenator under load(headlights, heaters, rear screen heater etc on in winter)
it will drop your idle.
I have that problem on my twin carb'd engine. Maybe because i have a shite alternator tho

gotech has a voltage correction graph aswell which can be used to correct the idle....
