my laptops been running a little slow recently so i ran a scandisk and restarted, grabbed a shower came back and it was on 0% still so i reset it, bad idea! next thing i know, disk error press any key to restart :laysabrick:
so i had to change it to boot from the cdrom
but yeah i seem to have 69 processes running any programs that can sort the ones that a crap?

ok so two mins after i wrote this it crashed and burned... anyone know how to fix a disk error? or is my harddrive fubared?

TBH it sounds like HDD is borked
But Re. the 69 proceeses running thing, I suspect you have a lot of these starting on bootup - that can be changed in msconfig

virus? spyware etc
use sytem recovery disk and restart in safe mode, run your virus/spyware programs then restart in normal mode

how do u get it into safe mode? it loads its pentium screen bios thing that you can press f2 on and change a few options on then goes to a black screen and after a minute says disk error, press any key to restart

either F5 or F8 on startup i think, brings up a menu and select safe mode
