i was bored so i thought i would try changing my injector for a 1.6 one, put it in took a minute to idle, went for a drive and it wasnt really any different, cant say it was quicker lower down and higher up around 5k it begins to overfuel, doenst really pop or flame couldnt really get any decent straight line speed aswell as the m6 was blocked, cant really tell if its accelerating quicker, seemed to sound a bit better though..

but my question is was there just a bit too much fuel to burn excessivly to give any increase?

My 1.4 ibiza had a 1.8 injector in it. It poped and burbled alot

Lambda will read rich and adjust injector duration as much as possible to compensate.

I have some X18XE injectors on order for my C16XE. Not needed, and won't gain any power without alot of other mods but i like cars that run abit rich. They drive better

Put the original injector back in, or at the maximum a 1.4 injector(if youve done a cam change etc)

It wont have done as the std 1.2 injector can supply easily enough fuel for the engine size.

yes

On most engines you will find that the 1.0 and 1.2 use the same injectors, then the 1.4 and 1.6 use the same, then the 1.8 and 2.0 use the same.

Check the bosch part numbers to get the flow rates

hmmm maybe they dont have them stamped on them. I know most rain mount top feed injectors do, but side feed single point injectors might not.

There made by Rochester.

Yeah, too much fuel will cause bore wash and damage your engine.
The 1.4 injector can fuel fine up to about 90hp.

If you overfuel the engine it can damage the bores which the pistons are surrounded in. You can also melt the piston rings too. Basically, overfueling the engine is bad and your experiment probably proved that there are no gains to just increasing the ammount of fuel that can get into the engine without increasing the air too.

update, went out with the 1.2 injector again and i think with the 1.6 it was slightly quicker but overfueling so would damage the rings in due time without airflow upgrade...
