Help, the engine cuts out sometimes and I think it's flooding.
Other times the engine races when I start it and I can smell petrol.
Would someone advise if there is something to check eg on the carb, to stop this happening?
Thanks, Gloucesterkiw

Have you checked the spark plugs, ht leads or coil pack?

Are you saying that if one of the cylinders is not firing - that would flood the engine.
Would it also make the engine race?

Need to get a long spark spanner from Halfords to check the plugs - I'll do it this afternoon.

pos fix, new temp sensor 2. this governs the 'choke' and when they fail they think its cold and pours fuel in! worth looking at

why dont you take it to a garage and get them to put the diagnostic machine on it and that will pin point the problem saves changing everything just for a wild guess that is the problem

(pos fix=possible cause/cure) yeah i think it is down the back of the block, the little sensor that is on the inlet manifold works the temp gauge on the dash, the 'temp sensor 2' controls the fueling side. you should be able to replace it yourself if you can raise the car slightly and a new sensor should only be around 10 pound from vauxhall. hope you get it fixed
