to a laptop that doesnt have one? ive tried a USB converter but it didnt work well. is there any other methods?

Have the same problem trying to update my dads old road angel. Ordered a USB convertor for it, take it they arnt much cop?

There could be a PCMCIA card with a serial port, shall have a look.

my usb converted di work, but not properly. it kept disconnecting from the device.

whats a PCMCIA card?

the problem with converting it via usb is the device your connecting will need usb drivers, does the supplier of the hardware offer usb drivers?

yes, got a complete kit with cables and drivers on a cd.

it does work, just not well enough for the application.
