What a bunch of fucking idiots
Just spent 15 minutes on the phone to some bloke who could barely speak any english
Basically I was playing NFS Carbon for about an hour last night.... and then the graphics started stuttering like a twat then the console locked up altogether.
Rebooted the console and it was ok again for another 10 minutes or so..... then did the same again. Then I rebooted and had the 3 red lights.....
Left it for an hour and its ok again........... but ive lost progress on the game.
The guy from MS is saying that they cannot do anything for me until I call them when the console is experiencing 3 red lights to do "diagnostics".
I told him that I dont want to play the fucking thing knowing I will be wasting my time if it crashes mid game and that I want it sorted.
He refused to help at all and said he could not do anything until the console had 3 red lights again.
I bought it from Argos last December but they will not accept it back AT ALL either. When I take it there they just give you the number for MS and will not accept it back in any way shape or form (already tried it before... spent over an hour in store arguing)
Anyone got any advice?

could you not leave it on running the game or whatever until it goes tits up again?
Surely if it keeps getting red lights then they have to do something about it, regardless of if after a reboot you can play for 10 more mins!!

Do they think customers only being able to play 10mins of a game at a time is perfectly acceptable?!?

Thats standard troubleshooting procedure tbh.
If the system currently does not have a fault how do they know whats wrong.
As steve said, just lie.

So it cutting out after every 10mins of play, and then working again after a reboot isnt a fault?

It is a fault cosmo, but you are neglecting the fact customers are idiots.
The crashing every 10 minutes could be because the user is an idiot.
If the system is working fine there is no way to troubleshoot.
If it's indians they won't use common sense and this makes it even more difficult.

The machine randomly freezing could be because the user is an idiot? What planet are you on?
The fact of the matter is... they know they have a huge failure rate of 360's and the 3 red lights issue shouldnt happen at all.... and when it does the console needs to be looked at.
There's no good in them talking me through troubleshooting bollocks when its only going to happen again.... ive lost faith in playing on it

I had the same thing Richie, this is infact my 3rd xbox.
The wacking the front trick worked for 2 weeks, look up the youtube vid. Then the towel trick worked for about another week.
After that it was FUBARD. Went through the pain of dealing with India. Sent it away to be fixed. 1 month later i got a box back after many calls to India, plugged it in, Error 74. This one was FUBARD too. So AGAIN calls to India, they came to collect it, told me it was on a rapid response turn around.
Well that turned out to be a lie.
I gained 3 months gold subscription, 1 wireless controller and a battery charger tower thing.
Anyway, 72 days later i'm on my 3rd box and it's working ok. Touch wood.
Hope your ordeal with India and the repair centre is better than mine!

That wasn't a sweeping generelisation btw, I understand there are language difficulties etc but if is the call centers in bangalore etc they do just read exactly from the script, I have to deal with another companys tech support daily and its terrible.
