my car has a rather loud tapping noise when its cold. but once its warmed up/ been driven for a while its fine.
1.2 8v if that makes any difference.
obviously it could be anything but should i be worried about it really.

yeh. after a while it goes its only there when it starts up when its really cold. otherwise its fine.
the colder it is the louder it is iv found

is it a fast tap? (tappets) or a slow tap (crank related)? may even be a slight blow from the exhaust manifold??

its only done 64k if that. recently had new cambelt and all related things.
tbf i think it may be exhaust related purely because i have to go over loads of those stupid bumps where they are split into 3 and my exhaust scrapes on them and occasionally scrapes on my drive.
and its a slowish tap.
*taps* goes off for a few seconds *taps come back*

Does it affect the performance at all? I sometime get a tapping on mine and car seems to loose top end power? But it only happens like 1-2 every 5months lol

if its a single tapet and clear and easy to point out that could well be the crank bearings or big end bearings.
Could even be lifters a bit knackerd and draining oil out while not in use.
My XE does it and it does run rather slow compared to what it should. But its still smooth.
Just drive it easy till thetapping goes and change oil often

Noise is deffo at the top end. I treat it like a child when it happens lol

lazy tappet or something.
mines at the bottom in the belly of the beast  rebuild needed!

never got back to me no.
Probs taking it to Vsport. But literally this night ive been offered an XE block running 200+ with jenvey throttle bodies etc etc but thats with a remappable ecu not included. will be running 190's though without it
