Is it possible to run a PATA and a SATA HDD in the same system as im having real problems.
Ive got it all running, but my PATA drive is only reconised as a CD drive in windows
So cant use it at all. Its installed as a master and the CD drive as slave. but still only sees it as a CD drive
how do i solve?

iirc you cant have CD/DVD drives and hard drives on the same IDE cable. In answer to your first question yes you canhave PATA and SATA HD's but for PATA cd/dvd drives they have to be connected with another cable

Incorrect. You can connect HDs and CD drives on the same cable, it's just advised that you don't as AFAIK the transfer speed to the HD would slow down to the speed of the CD drive.
