ok im having trouble finding an x16xe engine for my girlfriends tigra as here x14xe has had it, but theres plenty of c16xe engine knocking about, i know it will all mount up and fit ok but will the wiring etc be the same as the x16xe uses a chip in the key and transponder round the barrel for the ecu to de-mobalise is it a case of just fitting the c16xe in the x14xe place and plugging the c16xe ecu into the original wiring?? cheers jamie
also which is the better engine c16xe or x16xe??

No, the wiring is different in a big way.
IIRC the wires for the transponder are the 2 that come out of the loom by the bulkhead bung.

the x14xe thats in it already uses a transponder etc... so a x16xe should be fine, just use the x16xe ecu x16xe chip and x16xe engine just leave the x14xe loom in place what im wondering though is if i wanted to use a c16xe engine that does not run a transponder chip or immobalised ecu can i still use the x14xe loom but obviously i wont need any of the transponder wiring so it will all be useless and spare?

if you run a c16 you will need to run a different ecu thats all.

No, there are lots of redundant connections and I also recall it differing on the fan plug (or something in that region) plus things like the strike pin and something to the rear of the block, perhaps due to the lack of EGR?
There was also differences in the injector loom etc, I think it may have been the C16XE loom was removable but the X14XE wasn't?
Its not far off 2 years since I did one so I am damn vague. I seem to recall that the actual plug for the ECU is different as well?

The c16xe won't run on the x14xe loom with the c16xe ecu you could rtun the c16xe on the x14xe iloom f you used all the x14xe sensors and ecu.
But tbh its so much easier to leave the wiring on the engine when you take it out that you may as well swap it anyway!

Whichever you can find.
x16 are newer, and usually lower milegage.
