have you plugged the lambda sensor back in if you had to unplug it for any reason.

just seems funny that after you have put a new cat on it, it sudenly decides to make it worse
was the car hot when it went for the test? i would try getting it really hot when it goes back anf try again.
what was the lambda reading on the retest first and second fast idle?

i would try thrashing it to the test station and ask if they can just check it to see if its ok before retesting it.
where you from?

they have done a quick mot, don't worry to much, i have got my mot today and i have a sport cat which is a git to pass, tell them why didn't they do a cat initilization test, where they rev the car at about 3.5k for 15-20 minuits, after which it should pass!

Best thing to do is what AdamF says, just take it for a very heavenly run on the motorway if possible just before the test, preferably 70+ to get the efficency good too.
Or maybe worth doing an engine flush aswell to help the engine run more efficiently maybe?

change the oil and filter
thats what i normaly do to cars that fail. then take for a drive doesnt have to be too far just hold it at 60 in 3rd and drop down the revs then give it full throttle back up to 60 again
