is it only pics and music you can stream? as i cant get films to work!

no you can stream films too, but you have to have an application running on the system with the films that are stored -
Transcode 360
MCE Video Encoder (If you have Windows Media Centre)
Windows Media Endcoder (on the fly, takes a little to setup though)
google either of these and you get a lot of howto's

im haveing problems, im useing visa and trying with the media player, were are the files meant to go?

If you use Media Connect rather than Media Centre, then the 360 supports Divx and Xvid anyway AFAIK.
Transcode 360 has a couple of slight problems when used with Vista MCE, it skips the video every now and then.

If you've got Vista, just use MCE Video encoder and Windows Media Centre.
