Yah! When I bought it last week my mate looked at me and said "Why on earth would you need that?"
And here we are, a week later

I don't think they are as well designed as Nokias when it comes to impact resistance, which is rediculous as it's something the designers should have looked into. They look nice, but a drop will fuck them totally...
Luckily you can buy a new screen for about £40 and to dismantle and repair it isn't too hard.

I think that they are very solid, but they are quite heavy and I think that any drop will go straight through the aluminium case and be transmitted straight to the glass front on the screen. That is unless it lands on the small plastic part at the bottom as that will absorb a lot more of the impact than the aluminium part...

Any decent cases for the iphone that would protect it from drops and the likes?
Have an iSkin for my ipod, thats pretty good, but not sure if the iphone version would save the screen getting bashed in

Not really, just fell out my pocket when I was running in the rain

I bought one in Carphone Warehouse when I took it in for repair. Bit bloody late but hopefully if it happens again it'll be absorbed this time rather than directly on the casing.
Annoying, but shit happens.

Not only would u lose £170 but I doubt you'd be able to find somewhere that still has them in stock! I've always taken insurance out on phones, I'm a clumsy fucker and u just never know what'll happen!

You can buy replacement screens from ebay. Taking apart an iPhone is a pretty simple job and replacing the screen (or battery/camera/speaker/logic board for that matter) is also not too hard...
