need one this week, got both gas and electric running to current location but which would work out cheapest to run?
Want one with light only, and cold blower only modes. Has to be black or white with wall mountable fixing, remote if possible

I never reccomend fluless gas fires, their just too dangerous in my.... and many many other corgi plumbers opinions, id say get a leccy one, no servicing to go with it and absolutly no chance of poisning yourself

cool, know any good places for online prices? B&Q have some nice ones but they usually chage 50% more then most places lol...

try screwfix....
dont rule them out cause Ive said that like, its not just my opinion though its a fair few plumbers I know some companys I know of wont fit them
they have a catalytic converter in them that changes the carbon monoxide in the flu into carbon dioxide, the room has to have a vent specified in the manufactures instructions to get rid of the carbon dioxide
they have to be maticulosly (sp) serviced AND have the flu analysed though to keep the CAT in good order and make sure its still working.
lots of plumbers dont have flu gas analysers though cause they cost a bomb and may skip that part, which could be leathal
we dont fit them cause if anything happens its a manslaughter charge on us

we have a fluless gas fire, the plumber that fitted it put in a bigger vent than required, now i know why

yeah probably just to cover his arse,
cause they are a recent sort of trend there is no evidance to suggest they are / are not dangerous.... we just dont take chances

will buying a carbon dioxide/monoxide (not sure which one) alarm and putting it in the living room be a good idea?
Just had a gas fire fitted myself....set into chimney breast

Its a requirement with a flueless fire
your gas fire in the chimney breast is much much safer, you can never be too carefull though, we have a combined smoke alarm and carbon monoxide sensor in ours

also something else id have to say against flueless ones - the amount of condensation you can get, looking back we would have gone for a normal flu but we got this last minute on a special offer.
