heya ll just a quick questiion here
my pc keeps cutting out, at first i thought it was viruses so i put the computer back to factory standard and it still does it, it happens randomly and for no reason.
does this make sence? im running windows xp home edition if that helps
any more details then just ask

You shall need to give more details mate, when you say it cuts out what does it do? Restart? or just completely switch itself off?
Sounds like a dodgy PSU at first thoughts...

most likely susspects will be the power supply and possibly an overheating issue.

yeah sorry it completely cuts out, i thought it could be a over heating isue but how could i solve this??

take the side off, hoover all the dust out. have you formatted or just done system restore? if it still happens buy a new PSU (power supply unit)

ok i will give that a bash just now, it was just a system restore back to factory standard, used the provided disk

psu might be nackered ( more likely to be overheating ).
If i was you, clean out your case, see if all the fans are spinning in the case.
Then download a program called Motherboard monitor. See whats temps you are getting.
What processor have you got?
amd should run under 58 - 60
intels run alittle hotter, so can get away with under 65

does it blue screen? if so it could be driver related. but try what i said first.

no it doesnt blue screen, my old one did
and its runnin a intel pentium 4

get that program or atleast a program which monitors the temp in windows and tell me what its running at.

ok i have hooverd from teh outside in (cant get the fecking side off) and i have downloaded a motherboard temp reader thing from pc world, just trying to figure out how to read teh temp

you need to goto the temperatures bit and then make sure it displays the cpu temp and the case temp.

nah sorry lads it isnt, it is running abit beter and faster tho since i cleaned it inside with teh hoover, a friend of mine came round and sayd teh temp was ok on it coz i was getting lost with that program lol, The PCU mite need replaced thats wat he sayd aswell, so is that just the cable running from the socket to the pc?? or wat is it??
