Having pipes going outside will be the worst thing you've done, I used to have my raditor outside and it was a right pain in the arse.

Naa just having stuff going out of the case, any time I had to change the water or change things about or on th every odd occasion move it I regretted it.
Was brilliant for heat, all I had wasa couple of 120mm fans at 5v and a 120mm 5v one outside on the radiator, almost totally silent.

Ah get you now
lucky for me the zalman comes with quick couplings for the pipes and the actual flow outlet and inlet on the unit... just a case of pulling them out, no water loss/mess plus all the water cooling is external everything is inside the zalmans case
Mines is far from silent atm saldy im on the hunt for the external fan switch... all 6 are on high speed, the zalaman is very silent tho even on full flow/ fan speed

I just swapped the wires over to make them either 5 or 7 volt, didn't bother with a controller.

thats a very messy case inside!
The GPU blocks will be around shortly, its a very new card the 4850.
If it was me, i would have waited for the 4870 X2s and bought two samsung 500gb or 750gb and raid 0 them.

why raid them? explain your answers in a Paul_J style essay or dont post in here ever again.
is the CPU a G0 SLACR mate? if you, get your fukin speed up mines on 3.6 on air. read this if your unsure. its based on the P5B board, so will be very similar http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardware/140924-c2d-overclocking-guide-beginners.html

I've not read one of Paul's essays, so it will be in the style of.. bart.
Put simply you'll get more speed from two 500gb samsung F1s in raid 0
The samsung 1TB not only has more platters than the 500gb (more platters = more read time), but they are prown to problems. IF you HDs make it through the first month you've got the good ones
2x500gb = less platters and more speed espically in raid 0 too

yes we all know raid is faster, but seriously, why, it is not worth the effort.

I agree a RAID configuration will generally give better read performance, but more platters does not necessarily equal more read time. It depends on the areal density of each platter (which I believe is the same for all the Spinpoint F1s)...

I've not said its not worth the effort? but with the prices of hard drives these days, you can certinaly afford a decent raid 0 array, maybe even raid5 if you wanted to push the boat out.
twin 500gb F1s in raid 0 using perpindicular technology, bring it on

I don't think I could ever bring myself to run a RAID0 array -- my data is far too important to me!
I use RAID10 on my desktop and RAID1 on my MediaCenter. RAID5 is awful unless you have a proper hardware controller for parity calcs.

whats the difference between 5 and 10?
I use raid0 on my main desktop but use a Synology CS407 4 diskbay (4x spinpoint 1TB F1s) running a raid5 array.
I dont keep anything critical on either of my desktops, even the media center I wouldnt be bothered if the hard drive went down.
certainly one of the best NAS devices ive came accross.

5 is striping with parity (so needs a hardware-based solution to generate the parity quickly).
10 is striping+mirroring. Essentially the pros of RAID0 and RAID1 combined, but you'll need a minimum of 4 disks...

its true.
generally due to the way the two work. LCDs tend to 'lag' behind where CRTs have a quicker refresh rate.
On a decent LCD you wont notice it.
