I like my tunes and bit of a geek and so use to old PC to play music.
I'm looking for some floor standing speakers but not sure what is good. Was looking at some Sony ones as the amp i'm using is Sony and they looked pretty Some on eBay but hitting silly prices..
I broke one of my original Sony's when a little under the influence of alcohol on Friday night

You're better off with Mission, Mordaunt Short, Kef or Eltax speakers.

I have the bookshelf version of these and are pretty good, you wont find much better for £100.

I have some B&W DM601's on floor stands, Bi-wired powered by a pioneer amp, sounds great, my dad has mission floor standing speakers, slightly older but still hold there own in today's market with ease!

Richer Sounds in town and just go listen. They definitely have stuff in the price range, in stock. Going for bookshelfs instead of floorstanders would open up your options at that money though. I have Kef Cresta 10 which I can't fault for the size. They're very accurate indeed. 80 quid in Richer.

Ian is right, you will have a wider range if you look at bookshelf's, get them on some stands and you should have a good sounding speaker, then later if you want to add more depth into your system, you can add a sub set on a crossover for more bass and use the bookshelf's for mids and treble.

That was exactly my thinking when I got them, even bought an amp with sub capability except I've never gone back for the sub - never really felt it needed any more for that type of listening.

Much the same with me mate, The only reason I would upgrade with a sub would be for films, round 50hrz crossover for explosions ect, but for music my bookshelf's have a nice punchy bass and fantastic mid and treble.

Very good shout, had some years ago. You will not find a better speaker for the money. I currently have some 604's, but upgrading to 803d's soon
