i was thinking this

Optical Lead -> Convertor -> Male / Male connector -> 1Female to 2Male Phono

these products
well i have the TV going to AUX on the DVD player so i assume that it will work.

I think i have what i need.

L67BA optical Lead - £9.99

To

L74BA Optical -> phono convertor - £15.99

To

L23BA 1Male -> 2Male Phono Lead - 5.99

you can prob get a dvd player wit TOC (optical) for not much more than that.

you'll lose the clarity of optical by converting it.

Thats a lot of hassle, if it has an optical out are you sure it doesn't have a normal phono.

Also, that optical/coaxial converter is digital (it's converting optical digital to coaxial digital, not line audio). It simply wouldn't work...

What are you actually trying to achieve?

If you're wanting to go Digital to Analog then you need a DAC, something like a 'Cambridge Audio DAC Magic' will do (if you can find one second hand, still not cheap though). Will take BNC or Optical Digital and then feed it out to analog balanced XLR or analog unbalanced line out phonos.

Also, this is only for stereo and you need to make that if you are buying a stereo DAC, the optical is only sending 2 channels (rather than multi channel audio).

i sorted it a different way, i just went and bought some sony surround sound thing that had optical/dvd and suround
