I have the first gen colour screen 60gb ipod in the car. But I refuse to use iTunes. I hate it.
Is there anyway that I can use it so it replicates the traditional file system with folders for albums etc? That way I could just drag and drop the contents of 'my music' for example?
I have all my music well organised into folders etc and I dont like the way that iTunes does things. So is it possible or am I dreaming?

Winamp, it just a media player with an inbuilt media libary - don't worry, it doesn't arrange your music or piss around with it (unlike iTunes) unless you tell it to.
Install Winamp & connect your ipod, then you can drag drop tracks into the playlist, right mouse click > send to > *ipod name*. Or use the media libary (after setting a 'watch folder' pointing at your music collection), your ipod shows up in the left panel and then you can drag drop and create playlist to your hearts content.

If you buy (can get a keygen or serial number from the special shop) winamp pro, then it allows you to do audio file conversions which makes the whole process a little easier

Because it sucks up resources like a fat kid to burgers! Not only that, it goes on rearranging your music libary and retagging everything Apple Style. Plus it throws a hissy fit if you're trying to share music without people.
Winamp (and im sure other players) doesn't do any of these.

Im using Floola atm and its not too bad. Takes abit of time to add individual albums adding track numbers etc but the fact it runs off the ipod itself is a bonus

Why not just uncheck the option to have iTunes rearrange your music then?
I can't understand all the hate for iTunes/iPods/iAnything.
