We got the £250 voucher, how have you invested yours?
I want to put that in a trust fund and put money away in an isa for her future.

I think the £250 has to go in the trust fund.........I stuck mine in the Halifax and also make a contribution myself every month into my sons CTF.
Only decisions you need to make is who to invest with, and how you want to contribute, i.e. pay into her CTF or set up a seperate ISA like you say.
No access at all to the CTF until your little one turns 18 whereas in an ISA I think she will be able to draw out of that at any time?

Whats the interest rates on these things? What with inflation they are gonna be lower earners at the minute?

Well i dont want to put thousands into a CTF because if she turns 18 and she is not mature enough to handle all that money i would like it to remain in an isa untill she can.
i.e - she meets a dick head and says ive got 18k u kno lets spend!!!! Noooooooo
so the lump sum will remain in an isa untill she can sped it wisely

30k won't be much when she turns 18 if she's a baby just now, won't even be a deposit on a house, might buy a half decent car.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant
30k is nice to get but it's not a serious amount just now and unless something big changes it'll be even less serious in 18 years.

Tim posted quite a bit on child trust funds possibly last week, week before that at the earliest, he had found out the best way to get the most money into the account.
30k isn't a serious amount.

I thought tim's advice was quite good, thats why I went to the trouble of finding it for him, i'll not help in future and just go and cause conflict elsewhere.

i will be gettin this soon as that other thread though i am planning on making my profit in property and my job
god knows if that is a goos idea the way things are just now but already got 1 house that is rented so here is hoping
i plan to stick the £250 in trust fund and leave it
dont believe an 18yr old child should be getting £30k there you go just spend it. Money has to be appreciated and earnt
yes i hope i will be able to help ,y kids with a house deposit etc but that will be when i feel they are deserved of it or its the right time not when they are just 18 and would more than likely spend it on drink drugs cars and women

I just put my daughters £250 in the HSBC one as that's who I bank with.
Had a letter from them the other day as it was her birthday and she's now got about £400 in it after 2 years.
I plan on setting up an ISA for her as well that I'll pay money into but just can't afford it at the moment
