i was told i needed a new egr valve for the problem of my car smelling of petrol and when im slowing down it revs a bit higher than normal for a few seconds. does this sound right, cos the person who told me that likes 2 talk shit.

The egr valve causes such kind of things... Best thing to do is blank it!

egr valve went on my zafira. spanner light came on and it lost power until the ignition was reset.

Id doubt it if you havent got an ECU light on, more likely to be an air leak or a sticking Idle Control Valve
