Good question I would like some info along them lines, had a rover 220 gsi bored out a bit, how far can you go with a x16xe, this engine is still a learning curve for me.

im sure you can only bore a x16 out to something like 1689cc due to clearances between piston chamber walls

yeah, iv'e been told that you can use the 1800 small block internals. engine looks standard from out side by doing this, rather than just changing the engine.
the only thing that puts me off is how thin the block wall between the pistons would be.

1650 is common, up to 1704 very uncommon but you still see some in various guises. I cant imagine anything near 1800cc being possible let alone safe

not as simple as using z18xe internals, remember you need to calculate things such as compression ratio etc....
and the z18xe crank will catch on the inside of the x16 block due to the longer stroke.

yes y can do it as i am going to do it myself the bore is no problem you may have to grind a bit of the inside of the block and if you look at an original 1.8 block you can see that it is grinded too !

Also you need a x18xe1 oil pump with the x18xe1/z18xe crank

how much do you think it would cost to do?, obviously without the turbo. it doesn't sound like its that hard and costly really. easier said than done tho

i bought a crank around £75 with postage found used pistons cheap but I am going turbo way so only need for measurments , oil pump £10 used ,maybe some mapping that wil be a bit expensive
