In May I took out an 18month contract with Voda through phones 4u. (Big mistake I now know!) Mid September I had a big change in direction with life, I left full time work and became a full time uni student. I have spoke to both Vodafone and phones 4u reguarding the struggle of paying £45 a month as a student, and both told me the other party is in control for the first 9 months of the contract. I would be ok with a reduction in monthly usage as I havent used my phone much at all since moving to uni. Basically who is telling the truth out of vodafone and phones 4u and is there any get out clause etc i can turn to?

You cant reduce until about Feb
You cant cancel without incurring a massive early termination fee
Sorry bud
Best you can do is call our customer services and explain your situation but they are unlikely to do owt as we paid a high commission to Pghones 4U to get you ona £45 a month contract for 18 months (£494.32 to be precise!) and changing your terms costs us more money...

What handset have you got? If its something flash then why not sell it on ebay and put the money toward the line rental until you can reduce it.
