Thinking about getting my girlfriend a laptop for Christmas so after a bit of advice. She would want to use it for the following:
Watching DVDs
I-tunes / downloading music off limewire
Wireless internet
Some games (sims, etc)
Has anyone got any recomendations of models they would suggest? Or just a list of what processor speed, memory, spec I would need to be looking for to enable her to use it for all of the above?
Sorry, Im new to all of this
Cheers

For something like that mate you only need an "average" setup
I would recommend minimum of:
2 Ghz Processor
512mb RAM (1gb if she wants vista)
160gb hard drive
Any other q's?

cheers for the reply mate
she alsouses stuff liek facebook, msn, etc and is quite a keen photographer so would prefer it if it had memor card reader facilities for cameras, etc
any recommendations on models to look out for
ive heard of the sony vaio and obviously the apple ibook was made for i-tunes, dvds, music, etc but will these fall into my budget
Is there any specific model you would definately recommend for £200? Any links, etc
Sorry but I useless with technical stuff like this

In terms of her using facebook and msn they should be no problem for your average machine as facebook is merely a website and msn doesn't use that much in terms of processing power etc...
I personally don't think you will get what you are looking for, for the budget you have mate
These dell laptops sound ideal for what your girlfriend is after (in terms of artiness anyway)
http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/laptop_studio?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs
But again the cheapest one is about £399
My gf bought a dell laptop for £580 with all the goodies she needed (incl Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop)
My advice would be to save a bit more or buy her something else!

Dell are advertising the Inspiron something-or-other for £349 on TV - http://www.dell.com/tv I think the URL is.
For the sake of £100 you may as well buy her a brand new laptop?
