Hi not been on here in a while
my mate has a 2002 corsa C 1.2 SXI we are having problems with it
some times you will get in the car and the ECU lamp will be on no key in ignition or anything
when this happends the car wont start but after you have tryed to start it that light goes out but then with the key in the ignition on the lamp under the ecu lamp flashes and still wont start its yellow with a spanner threw it i dont have the hand book but i asume it is some sort of service lamp or immobiliser light
now i have had a bosch tester on it and its not seeeing the key so i though the key was dead but it still does it with the spaire so 2 cant have gone down together
if you play about turning the ignition on and off for about 15mins it will then start and be ok for a few days
whats peoples oppinions on this i dont have any info of how the imobiliser system works is it integral to the engine ECU or has a seperate one?
Thanks'
Si

i got same prob with my corsa b gsi. engine turns but dont fire. done paperclip test n says its immobiliser wrong signal. both keys dont start it but the engine managemnt light dont flash. :s taking mine to vauxhall let then have a look.
might just need the key re programed to the immobiliser.
if in doubt cal auto elictrician to come de-ativate it and see if it starts then

Had a word with my mate a auto sparky, check your ign key control ring for bad connection trace this till you find the key encoder about the size of a fag packet this sends your signal yes/no from the key chip to the ecu, check this for bad connection and even dry joint inside the unit, looks like the ecu is getting hit and miss from this unit , looked for diagram but sorry no joy. if not its auto sparky time or main dealer time.

right the tester leed me up the gardem path lol
now the problem has got worse and is doing it 90% of the time i have found out that the ecu lamp is on all the time even with ignition off and so is the centre console lcd display and it wont start, now get this if you open the boot it will start every time and averything is ok lol
i found that it is the interior lamp switch that is effecting this for the time been i have cured it buy removing the boot lamp
does any one know where the boot lamp wire could intersect some ignition wires to the engine control unit?
it had the imobiliser fault because the ecu was on all the time lol
Thanks
Si
