Heya, after driving my dad around all week with no issues, I leave my car (corsa B) outside overnight and its frosted (I dunno if any of this is linked but just saying what happened)..
So I de-ice and scrape it all and start it up, my iPhone car kit was in the ciggarette thingy and as I moved it huge sparks came out of the ciggarette lighter.. Removed the car kit and drove off down the road and found my speedo wasnt working.
Now I havent a clue what to look for and dunno whether the sparks were linked, if it was a fuse I was a bit confused about how the fuse would be the same for speedo and lighter :\ but any ideas and suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks, Vece

First thing to check when something electrical stops working is the fuses.
Unless you have cable clocks.

I believe the entire centre console, speedo and interior light, including radio, all run through the same 20 amp fuse.
Can't remember the number though, sorry

Hmm it seems I dont have a fuse for the speedo, ive had a look round and most people say it could be the speedo cable snapped. Im not eager to go with that atm as im visiting my parents and dont have much facilities where I am. I saw another thread where this guy said that he inserted a car adapter and suddenly that and the speedo stopped working, anyone have any theories for this please help! much appreciated

If your speedo starts at 10mph then you have cable driven clocks, and it's possible the cable is damaged or snapped etc.
