Fan on my brothers PS3 comes on full belt after a while and stays like that, very loud and very annoying.
Sony are swapping it at my doorstep for a better model tomorrow quick phonecall, wasn't even questioned on it, no lengthy troubleshooting, great customer service

Seeing as we're talking about customer service...
I bought a 32" TV just over 12 months ago from Comet. TV developed a fault where it wouldn't come on first time (just the sound came on). They came out, repaired it, worked for a day then started at it again. Complained. Got an exchange order sent through the post from them so I could go down and pick a new TV to the same value as I paid for the old one Walked out with a 42" TV

Got a sony 32" crt years ago (unrelated to sony, just happens to be a sony tv) from currys or comet.
Developed a purple patch in the corner of the screen.
Sent it away to be repaired, came back with the casing all broken.
Complained, eventually after a long argument got to pick a new tv as they didn't make that one anymore.
Came with the brand new tv in the box, ready to take the old one away.
We checked the new one before accepting, screen smashed on a brand new 2k tv, told them to get and we'd keep the old one until they got it right.
Eventually came with the new one but no order to pick up the old one
Ended up with 2 tv's

PS3 failures are pretty common at the moment. if you look on AVFourms theres pages of people with failed BluRay drives, mine went a couple of weeks ago, a 2minute call to Sony and a doorstep swap was arranged within a week.
Good customer service but to be fair it shouldnt have gone wrong in the first place...

They can't help parts failing can they, not as if it's a design fault ( ) and swapping it no questions is about the best they can do imo.

They can help parts failing, the amount of R+D that goes into these you would expect something so important as the BluRay drive would be reliable, its not a £30 toy made by a small-time manufacturer, its a £300 Sony'computer'
Its surely a design fault if so many are going up shit-creek.
I agree replacing them is good, but its what you would expect.

Just like Microsoft handles the 360, swapping the console on your door, oh wait, you send it away for weeks.
The only way sony could do anymore to help you would be if it was enxt business day.

only ever used their customer service with the vaio laptop range, sent 2 laptops back for different reasons, they picked it up, texted me with updates on how it was going, whereabouts it was, got them back 2/3 days later and they'd been via belgium. a nice japanese lady rang me and asked me how the service was, very happy indeed. good service

Stop being a prick -- that's what ruins customer service and puts companies out of business. Why help ruin it for others who have genuine faults with their expensive equiptment?

I might ring about the fan, mine is also stupidly loud and if I'm trying to watch DVD's it's fucking irritating.
I thought I would just have to put up with it.

Metaphorically.
I haven't actually ever had to use the warranty on anything

Funny you should make this thread!
The laser reader on my mates Puss3 has gone, he phoned them up today and they're picking it up Thursday.

Its hit and miss john, if you log-on to the AVForums, under the PS3 section you will find a 32 page-long thread on fucked PS3 BluRay drives.
Many have had to send theirs away for a repair and it takes up to 3 weeks.
Your making out that the sun shines out of Sony's arse but it doesnt!

I've said their customer service is excellent in my experience, other's have agreed with me, that's all.
Most of av-forums is full of a lot of tosh.

I'll agree with this, but on this subject (people posting their fault experiences) the evidence speaks for itself.

Half an half with that, it's rare you see posts like this when companys do something good.
I'll post bad experiences without thinking, the only reason I posted this good one was because I had just read a rrod thread
