Is it possible to connect my laptop that is on a different IP range to my Windows Domain?
WLAN
192.168.0.x
LAN
192.168.1.x
I've sectioned both subnets off using a managed switch but given access from the WLAN to LAN. I can get to the server by typing in the server IP but not if i try and use the Host Name.

tried adding IP of one of the DC's to the tcp/ip properties for DNS? Are you using DHCP, if so what is issueing the leases?

The DC is not doing DHCP, the managed switch is currently do this.
I'm not sure what you mean James.

What subnet mask do you have on the server and laptop? What DNS settings is the switch giving out. tbh never heard of a managed switch acting as a dhcp server. Better off having the server doing DHCP tbh

Changing the subnet mask on the laptop to either:
255.255.254.0 or 255.255.0.0 might do it, but unsure on that.
Though the only way to link to networks together is via a router (a real Cisco router that is)

I'm learning a bit on subnets at the minute.
The two networks can speak as i can get to the server from the other subnet but using IP rather than host name. Think i have an issue with DNS. Just need to figure out a way around it
