Right.
Purchased my Panasonic BD35 Blu ray player (awesome btw)
Want to use it in conjunction with my panasonic SA-PT460.
Problem i encountered when setting them up is both have HDMI ports, but only 1 each. So i wanted to plug Blu-ray through the Home cin. system but i could only do that one way through HDMI, or i could plug the bluray straight into the TV with no surround.
In the end i used the standard AV cable to link the Bluray to the HCS using the Aux channel and standard white and red cables. Then selected the HDMI sound input to OFF on the players setup. Now im no expert but im guessing this wont be as good quality as if i used a Digital Audio out terminal?
I have never heard of one of these before, but both machines have them so would this be better than the red and white component cables?
Anyone know?

HDMI to tele and opitcal/coax to reciever, will get core Dolby digital and DTS from your Blu Rays (if it can handle DTS - have a look on the front of the reciever and seed if it has a dts logo)

yeah has DTS and dolby. Obv not going ot get tru HD sound but is it better than the phono leads??

yeah best you will get it dolby prologic unless you use digital, what inputs does it have opitcal or digital coax?

Did this for my mate the other week with his PT460, not a bad bit of kit for the money he paid for it, sub was pretty punchy too.
PS3 to TV via HDMI
PT460 to TV via HDMI
PS3 to PT460 via optical (think its the D-IN input IIRC)
You'll get Dolby Digital as said but not TrueHD etc...
Will sound just fine though!

Bluray > Tv via HDMI
Bluray > SA-PT460 Digital optical
And yeah its the D-IN input, took me a while to figureout why there was no sound

Check your getting Dolby Digital and not just Pro Logic2
Also, check your PT460 is set to upscale standard DVDs to 1080p as its in a funny menu system on the 460 and is easy to miss-out. Default is 576i i think and dvds tend to look poor!

460 purely audio now, bluray upscales my dvds to 1080i
Not abd system considering the price!
