My 12v runs really quietly when cold but as soon as its warm it starts tapping quite bad.
Im changing my oil later so is there any oil that will help prevent this?
If not what is the best grade to have?

Use a decent oil that holds viscocity.. Castrol Magnatec is quite famous for NOT holding its viscosity, not just used that have you?
Also check your oil levels.

timing chain - mine does it and was told the timing chain has come loose. APPARENTLY its nothing to worry about as its very common on 1 litres. You could get it repaired but its not essential and will only get rid of the noise - please note though this is expensive and i was told that it will only go again!

I know about the timing chain but I wouldn't think it would only tap when warm if it was the chain.
