Anyone used a peer 2 peer lan messaging client before with any success?
Ideally we want it to be as close to MSN as possible but we cant have any connection to the outside world and nor can we have it hosted so it needs to be peer 2 peer.
Any ideas?

Microsoft do one called office communicator, it just takes the contats that are on the exchange server and alows you to see when they are connected and can talk. It is a good tool for were i work as we have sites all over the world.

Looks good but again that looks to be web based on a company intranet type situation? We need peer 2 peer

Netmeeting was an MS product.
It comes as part of every pre-vista OS.
If you're on XP, you already have it!

there is no pleasing you, miserable git....
some people have provided some good solutions which you've simply dismissed.... why not actually investigate the market any maybe look at some forums which specialise for information instead of a car site...

Best thing would be is to tell us what your network setup is, do you have a file server or any "main box" on the network or is it just x number of computers with only mapped printers?
