My parents house is defo in the wrong band, it is in band D and the only other houses on our street in that band are detached, the smaller detached are C, the rest are B. Ours is a semi, but is a bit bigger than the other semis so it is at least a C if not a B. Interested if anyone else has done it, just about to hit moneysavingexpert now to get the low down.

A property located in Yorkshire & Humberside which was valued at £145000 in Q4 of 2006, would be worth approximately £50844 in Q2 of 1991.
This is equivalent to a change of -64.94%.
Council Tax Bands at 1991 Property Value
Band ENGLAND 1991 Property Value SCOTLAND 1991 Property Value
A All properties under £40,000 All properties under £27,000
B £40,001 - £52,000 £27,001 - £35,000
C £52,001 - £68,000 £35,001 - £45,000
D £68,001 - £88,000 £45,001 - £58,000
E £88,001 - £120,000 £58,001 - £80,000
F £120,001 - £160,000 £80,001 - £106,000
G £160,001 - £320,000 £106,001 - £212,000
H over £320,000
That supports that it should be in band C not D.
possibly even band B. They have been in since 1993 too.

I'm just looking into it for my parents house, there is 6 houses on the row in the street
Every house is band B, but theirs is a band C.
It is extended, but one of the other houses is also but only half as much. Will post any luck i have in doing it

i checked this for our house, checked it against the price we paid last year and the rest of the street
most are on band B ours is on C
I think it should be reduced as houses are the exact same, dad thinks it is because we have a garage, im not sure
meaning to phone them up and question it

if it is substantially extended then the council come around and reband it.
But compare it to 91 april prices to find out, and the council also use natiionwide and halifax price calculators.
When you appeal they will send you lots of evidence for their reason, so you will need a good case, not just "because i think it should"
