Ive been quoted almost 1700 quid in solicitor fee's.

Thats to sell a 1 bed flat & buy a 3 bed new build house including everything involved.

Is this a bit high?

Im sure I only paid 500odd last time, albeit I was just buying then & it was 4yrs ago!!?

Can I shop around with solicitors? This was just one the builder suggested thats got in touch!! Still to contact my own.

Been looking at all this myself recently.
Not selling a house, but as a buyer on a new build, i was told it'd be £800 or so for Solicitor fees.
But i spoke to a woman who's recently moved in round the corner and she said it cost her £350 for buying solicitor fees.

You can shop around, there's a website with solicitor details... http://www.lawsociety.org.uk/choosingandusing/findasolicitor.law i think that's the one i was recommended

Thats about right colin, we were £650 just to buy. Are the builders not paying anyway?

Colin you get what you pay for.

Go to a conveyancing factory and you will get it cheaper. Go to a specialist property lawyer and you will get it done properly.
