when you change rear drums and shoes like i did recently i adjusted the long shaft with threaded part pretty much all the way to start and we bled the brakes weekend and pedal feels well dodgy can you wind it back to far as the handbrake only just works too.
part under the cylinder im on about.....

thats the adjuster. make sures theres no lip on the drum then just adjust it untill you can feel the shoes just touching the drum

adjust it as said above, as it does affect the foot break due to the shoes traveling a greater distance..
