Hiya guys. First off, let me say Hi to all as I am new and this is my first post.
I have a bit of a question for you clever people on here. What gearbox can I bolt straight onto the Corsa sport 1.4i? Engine is X14XE..When I get to about 80 its over 4k revs. I don't really like that, and want something thats a tad longer. Any suggestions of a gearbox, that will just bolt straight in place of the old one thats got a bit of a longer drive?
Let me know. Thanks guys.

Change the final drive, don't bother with a new box.
Good old Dave A made a tutorial years ago IIRC.

Wouldnt that be harder then just putting a new gearbox in?

get a WR gearbox of an astra F
but it might feel gutless
from experiance, the gearing suits it perfectly - although its reving high, making any longer just makes the car unresponive and doesnt pick up for overtaking etc etc
if you just want say 500rpm less revs get a F17CR and then retro fit the cable clutch system (easy job)

That sounds just the ticket! I used to have an old astra 1.6 8v with the Z16XE. The gearbox died on me so I got that changed with another gearbox. The revs then went about 500rpm down. Like for example...I would be doing 40mph in 4th at 2500ish rpm...after gearbox change..it went to around 2000rpm.
The loss in acceleration doesnt really matter to me, as I'm planning on doing some work to the engine anyway. Cams, remap etc...
When you say retro fit, do you mean remove the slave clyinder etc and put the cable and stuff in there? Out of intrest...what gearbox does the 1.6 corsa sport have?
Cheers guys

Ahh hello there lol
A 1.6 corsa sport will have F15 CR, your 1.4 gearbox will be a F13 CR, Your best of changing it for a WR or even a F15WR.
My nova has a F13WR and i can say its much better than my tigras CR F15.
If you want a F13 WR give me a shout.
