Will the calipers from a GSi fit staright on and will the discs fit under 14" rims?? Is it a job for a garage or can i do it myself? Also what size are normal corsa brake discs? I've got a 1998 S reg 1.4 Sport.

Gsi brakes are 256mm they will fit under 14" wheels no problem.
But you would be better of fitting Astra Gsi discs & calipers as the pistons in the caliper are larger giving more pressure to the pads when braking

My car isnt really that powerful so is it worth it? Would the GSi brakes make much of a difference then my current ones. Currently i have red dot 6 groove discs and fast road pads. They seem pretty decent.

Get the Astra 16v brakes, shouldnt cost you more than £60. Make sure you get new pads. Your brakes can never be too good IMHO!

IM running group N discs ( Plain not grooved or drilled ) with genuine Gm pads
You can stand it on its front bumper really easy from 100-0 in a very short distance as i have out braked a lot more larger more powerful vehicles on track days

You can do it yourself if you are pretty competent. Renew the pads when you buy the disks/calipers. They are under £15 (gen Vaux) from autovaux.co.uk

My dad is pretty knowledgeable. Its just that i've seen a pair of GSi discs and pads for sale for £50. They r red dot grooved and vented i think. Only done 200 miles. If they come with callipers i might go for it.

I dont think theyll come with calipers for that money but you never know. Ive got mine here but Ive yet to fit them (need to get new pads & sliders)

A guy over on migweb has upgraded his Corsa GSi brakes to the Astra ones and he is well impressed - Id go for the Astra ones TBH.

Give them a good clean & paint and the calipers will look like new

I'll see what happens about the GSi ones first. I might then upgrade from them when i get some bigger wheels.

if you are thinking about eventually upgrading to Ate callipers there is no point in buying GSi ones, getting them fitted then buying bigger ones later. Get the Ates!

I thoght corsa gsi dics and calipers were the same as astra gsi calipers and discs. The order codes for the pads and the discs are the same.

I upgraded my calipers from a 1.4 sport so I could fit the same width discs as an astra gsi.

instead of changing everything go and change your discs to grooved brembos for example (ate power discs i do not recommend) together with ferodo pads (do not forget to use the pedal gently on the very first 300 kms) - in not a very powerful car this should be more than enough. in my 1.4 i did that and i feel that i am braking mostly with the front - more than before at least..

Cos those kinda coversions are over £600 here.

AS said, go for Astra/Cav etc 16v Calipers. Calipers can be bought for £30 from a scrappy, replace the piston seales, and get urself some EBC Turbo disks and Greenstuffs.

I had this conversion and sold it to a friend b4 i fitted it (got the V6 conversion, wish i'd kept the 16v setup) and it stopped his 1600 Sport on a penny. Bloody great setup.

astra gsi ones fit under 14's too, u can get em for the same price as corsa gsi ones but are better cos the discs are wider and the calipers are bigger, dont bother with corsa gsi ones. astra ones are much better for the same money.
