Apparently makes real nice chips etc using almost no oil
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tefal-ActiFry-Low-Electric-Fryer/dp/B000T76UOE
I dont like buying frozen chips because of the coatings the companies put on them for preserving etc, but dont like making my own chips cos atm we have a run of the mill deep fat fryer so its not exactly good for you.
Its a bit expensive at £130 mind

It is a bit much, I'm waiting for a rip-off JML box to come out so the price falls and then I might get one, the reviews look majority 5 star on Amazon

Got one, costco had them for 100 when they first came out.
Works well, totties need to be bone dry before you put them in to get them crispy.
Best bit is the seasoning and oils you can throw in with wedges or chips.

she's doing it wrong then.
The potatos have to be dry to get good crispy chips, it works when they aren't dry but not as well.

From a quick google some people are saying there should be a recall because some have been faulty, there wasn't though and it looks like the only reason it was mentioned at all was because somebody reported it to watchdog.

Not far off that in a conventional oven if you do the 'preheat to 200c' job with your frozen varieties

Chips take like 15-25mins (depending on preference) in oven from frozen tbh

I always do them at a lower temp (180) otherwise they seem to stick to the foil and it doesnt taste very nice, thus I have to give them a bit longer

If it takes you 45 minutes to do chips you shouldn't be in the kitchen.
