Just a quick one. Can you run a 4x60w headunit off the standard car wiring without the need for the additional power wire to the battery? Will it work but just not be as powerful? This isn't an issue if this is the case...
Cheers,

no need for aditional battery, it will also run at the correct power. Its the output powers, nothing to do with what it needs to run.

It was wired to the battery though and I've removed it to cut down on the amount of wires going to the battery - any reason why this would be? No manual for it. It's an Alpine CDM-9807RB.
It was running 2 amps, but I've also removed all of this.
Cheers.

You could connect it to any permanent live, just make sure it's fused.

when there run straight to the battery its just an "easy" way to get the radio to work.
it will work fine using the normal wires (ISO) and the same power as it did before.

4*60 maximum, realistically you'll get 20w per channel if your lucky.

Couldn't care less as I'm only using it to power standard speakers, no amps, subs etc. Wanted to try and use it without an extra power cable but that isn't possible. Wired it all up this morning.

They normally come with bullet connectors to hook it into standard or run your own if you wanted to.
It would have worked fine if you connected the extra power cable to the normal 12v feed.
