Got my upgrade soon, but I can't decide which to get.
I had the iPhone 2G when they first came out but it had loads of annoying features such as not being able to forward messages, crap camera, no flash, no video. And most of all it was very fragile and mine broke twice.
I've heard nothing but good things about the new ones though and the apps now available look awesome.
But at the same time I've heard nothing but good things about Blackberries except the odd keypad going faulty and having to be replaced.
Opinions from people who've got either one of even better somebody who's had both?

The camera isn't actually that bad, if you have good light and keep a steady hand it can be decent. Obviously its still only 2.0mp or 3.0 if you have the 3GS but it really isn't as bad as people make out.
Personally after using my mates blackberry and my iPhone I'll take mine any day of the week. It depends what you want in a phone, now you can forward messages, copy and paste and all that shit its so much better than the 2g original.
Also build quality is fine, I'm a mechanic so mine gets a bit battered and the screen is fine still. Saying that I do need to go get it fixed or replaced this week because the back casing has a small crack in it
I don't think I'd ever get a different phone again to be honest, so long as they don't make the next ones really shit.

Fair enough, camera is something I use alot so I might have to go check but I think Joe is right people do make it sound like it's terrible but it can't be that bad.
Think I'll just have to go into a shop and try it. I never know if I like a phone until using it day to day though, so trying it in a shop isn't a fair comparism for me.
I loved everything about the iPhone when I had it, just lacked a few things normal phones did but they seem to have fixed that problem now. And the apps have got so much better, people at work are sitting playing games on their iPhones when we're quiet and I'm left refreshing Facebook on my shitty N95 waiting for something exciting to happen.
Cheers for input lads

I had the iPhone 3g when it came out, I couldn't get used to it at all.
I've got a blackberry now, and its a very simple but clever phone to use.
Been playing on a mates iPhen lately and im getting to like them more and more!

Will just have to go and try it I guess. iPhone users saying they're the best, Blackberry users saying they're the best, can't win

its all instant and has dedicated servers, also displays all html and various scripts. so with iphones etc, they connect to the web and search for new stuff in your inbox, whereas bb just instantly receives them, like within 2 seconds of been sent.
its not a case that the iphones is worse, its all about how it is applied day to day.
for example, bb are good for email because someone may send you a pfd document, or a word or excel document, you review it on the bb, edit it using the pfd word, excel software, then send it back.
just flawless connectivity.

Fair enough, for your average guy though none of that really matters much I'd imagine.

correct, hence why blackberrys are massively respected by corporations who use 1000's of them ie, FBI, met, etc.
