Watchin a DVD movie on a mates laptop @ hers whilst shes out....but its soo quiet i can barely hear it. Media player volume is on max as is windows volume. Is there anything to make it any louder? Its just dvds music play loud fine. Btw theres no internet here so cant download anything :/

I would guess codec issue but as you don't have the net you can't update.
Do you have another player such as power dvd installed etc?

Is there a physical volume slider anywhere on the laptop too? I've known this to be the solution to this kind of problem in the past.

Put mpc or vlc on a USB stick and copy it over.

theres probably a FN key towards the bottom left (the letters will show up in blue normally) hold this and look for the volume up key elsewhere on the keyboard (normally one of the numbers)
ps, i know it may be alittle late, but you have be watching a really long film

There's just a registry fix to sort this out. Known issue on Vista if that's what it is running but it's by design. Easily fixed
