I'm going back to my parents for xmas, and I can't be arsed lugging my tv back with me as well. I want to use my PS3 there with my old 15" PC monitor, with a VGA port. Does anybody know of any cables that can do this?

I'm looking for the cheapest way possible, so I don't want a £30 cable off eBay - I've looked there.

Does anyone know if this sort of cable is a two way affair, i.e., it says it can output a signal from a laptop to a tv - can it also do it the other way round? As I have the component cable for the PS3 anyway, so can just join up the video connectors.

It's not that simple. The PS3 outputs a digital signal which means you could make use of HDMI, Component or DVI. VGA is analogue so you're going to need something like a transcoder. If your monitor has a DVI plug then you can use an HDMI to DVI cable as those technologies are backwards compatibles.
